Saudi Cancer Foundation in partnership with Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) co-hosted the Saudi Cancer Foundation’s 11th International Conference titled “Best of Saudi Oncology 2017.” at the Kapinski Hotel in Khobar Saudi Arabia.

JHAH was pleased to provide the scientific and clinical support establishing the science agenda, ensuring the best and most timely topics in Oncology and reviewing the speaker selection. All JHAH Oncology physicians participated in the event via planning, moderating, presenting and serving on the award review committees.

In addition to the Oncology Institute our distinguished colleagues in the Department of Surgery were invited to participate in both scientific lectures and hands on workshops.

The event was opened by H.E. Prince Saud bin Nayef, Governor of the Eastern Province with nearly 1,200 registrants from major cancer centers and hospitals in Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and Europe. The introduction highlighted the collaboration between the Saudi Cancer Foundation and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) progressing the standard of care and therapeutics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The program spanned two days (Dec 13/14) and was advertised extensively to Oncology physicians, nursing, technicians and patients. Online registration and electronic fliers circulated throughout the community prior to the event. Large signs throughout Khobar and on Dammam Highway highlighted the event and location. A full press conference was called after the opening where multiple news outlets from all provinces of the kingdom and interviewed experts from SCF and JHAH.

We were so pleased to have attendance and support from Dr. Linda Lee and Dr. Zeina Khouri – Stevens during the presentations. The gala dinner provided an opportunity for networking and recognition of key contributors to the conference.

“The presentations were exceptionally informative and the discussions quite engaging,” said Dr. Linda Lee, M.D., JHAH Chief of Staff. “The knowledge and experience shared, combined with the wider network of experts built as a result of this conference will no doubt have a positive impact on oncology patient care across the region.”
