Mahmoud Zaiyat, Chief Information Officer (CIO)

In 2014, Mahmoud was appointed as the inaugural Chief Information Officer for the newly formed Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare bringing nearly two decades of IT experience and knowledge to the position.

During his career at Aramco, Mahmoud managed multiple high value, high return IT projects and initiatives. He served as the head of the Healthcare Applications Division, which was responsible for all medical applications used in the Saudi Aramco Medical Services Organization IT network. In this position, he championed application of business intelligence to enable more efficient operations and better information-based decision making, which elevated healthcare standards through proper resource allocation.

Under his leadership, JHAH has become the first healthcare system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to implement Epic, a leading Electronic Health Record (EHR). In addition, IT at JHAH has maintained vigilant preparedness and deployed active protection measures against cyberattacks to minimize strategic and tactical risks while JHAH IT migrated to its own IT infrastructure. He has also overseen the transition to a fully functional Enterprise Resource Planned platform – JHAH Connect – as well as implemented many clinical and non-clinical solutions.

Mahmoud holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from KFUPM in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
