Angela Green, PhD, RN, CPHQ, FAAN serves as the Vice President of Patient Safety and Quality for the Johns Hopkins Health System. As part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, she is responsible for ensuring a culture of high reliability, leading efforts to eliminate preventable harm and advancing clinical excellence across the continuum of care. She also holds a faculty appointment at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.
Dr. Green joined Johns Hopkins in 2017 as the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) senior director of patient safety and quality. She was promoted two years later to vice president and chief patient safety and quality officer for JHACH. She was the Catherine Kobren Endowed Professor in Patient Safety and Quality, one of the first Johns Hopkins University endowed professorships at JHACH.
Known for her strong track record of convening diverse stakeholders to solve challenging problems, Green spearheaded efforts that transformed the patient safety and quality program, earning JHACH the Leapfrog designation as a top children’s hospital. Green has provided system-level leadership for the Johns Hopkins Medicine Communication and Resolution Program, which focuses on a systematic, transparent and supportive approach for patients, families and staff members after safety events. She also chartered and served as co-chair of the Pediatric Patient Safety and Quality Council.
Green earned a master’s degree from the University of South Alabama and a doctorate in nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She was elected to fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing and the American Heart Association.
