Dr. Omar Alshanqeety

Dr. Alshanqeety is a Saudi physician and health economist. He currently serves as an adviser to His Excellency the Minister of Health. Previously, he was an adviser to the CEO of the Program for Health Assurance and Purchasing (PHAP), the entity designed to act as the public payer for healthcare services in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Alshanqeety played a key role in establishing PHAP and served as its founding CEO for four years. He has also served, and continues to serve, on the boards of several healthcare organizations in the Kingdom.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Alshanqeety gained extensive experience in management consulting and academic research. He earned his medical degree from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and completed his MPH and PhD in health economics and policy at the University of Michigan in the United States.
