In his role as Director of the Risk Management & Patient Safety Division at JHAH, Iyad plays a vital role in supporting the organization's mission and vision and ensuring quality of care and patient safety across the organization.
Iyad is a distinguished leader in healthcare risk management and patient safety with more than 20 years of experience in the field. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Jordan, his healthcare journey began in 2001. Since joining the Saudi Aramco Medical Services Organization (the predecessor to JHAH) in 2003, he has held several pivotal positions in the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Department.
Iyad is dedicated to professional development and as a result is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM). He has also completed training programs in the United States that include a Fellowship in Patient Safety and Quality Leadership from the Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. Additionally, Iyad is a member of the Exam Development Committee of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety.
He has authored publications including "A Quality Improvement Project Decreases the Incidence of Pulmonary Embolism Following Arthroplasty" and "Improving Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Gastrointestinal Surgery Patients." Additionally, he has led research projects aimed at advancing healthcare practices that include "Predictors of Unscheduled Return-to-EMS Cases within 72 hours at JHAH.”
