Please join us in congratulating Hebzibaa, Mohrah, and Zubida, who have won DAISY Awards for Extraordinary Nurses!
Hebzibaa, a nurse in our Behavioral Health Unit, was praised by a patient who was struggling to eat.
“She fed me by herself and helped me eat when I couldn’t,” the patient said. “Her smile literally brings joy to my heart even at my lowest. She kept smiling every time I saw her. Even when I didn't smile back, she smiled at me and kept being positive.”
Mohrah, who works in our emergency room, went above and beyond to help a patient who was admitted with severe stomach pain.
According to the patient, Mohrah’s “attentiveness and compassion” were “remarkable.” Among other things, Mohrah “ensured my comfort by providing a blanket when she noticed I was shivering,” the patient said. And despite the patient being “extremely tired and in a lot of pain,” Mohrah “skillfully drew blood without causing me additional discomfort.”
Zubida, who works in our primary care treatment room, was commended by a patient for her “exceptional care and kindness” when they visited the clinic for a Vitamin B12 injection.
“From the moment I walked in, Zubida made me feel completely at ease,” the patient said. “She took time not only to give me my injection but to offer genuine, thoughtful advice on how I could improve my diet to support my B12 levels. She spoke with such compassion and took her time to ensure I understood each point, making me feel valued and supported. Her willingness to go above and beyond to support my health and wellbeing is something I will never forget.”
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is presented every month to a nurse who gives extraordinarily compassionate care to a patient. The awards scheme is administered by the DAISY Foundation, which works with more than 6,500 healthcare organizations worldwide.
Mohrah, Hebzibaa, and Zubida won the awards for August, September, and November. Hani Ayyad, Chief Nurse at JHAH, presented the awards at a ceremony on December 25.
