I am proud to state that Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) not only continues our commitment to providing a comprehensive, adaptive environment for our patients, families, visitors, and employees, we strive to actively support inclusion and diversity throughout our organization.
In 2021, we achieved gold certification from Mowaamah, with a 99% compliance. This was a huge honor and since then, we have continued to work in partnership with our employees and our community to uphold the high standards expected under this certification.
Throughout the last few years, we have made tremendous progress in focusing on the strategy and meeting the objectives established by our Person-Centered Care Committee and the Persons with Disability Sub-Committee: Below I have outlined just a few examples of the incredible work being delivered.
Person -centered care communication and compassion training:
This training continues to be a top priority on our agenda. In 2022, more than 85% of JHAH employees received training, and we introduced virtual sessions for better accessibility. These on-going sessions empower our staff and support them through our cultural change and sustains any improvements done in clinical, operational and mostly patient experience.
Language Bank of volunteer staff capable and willing to serve as interpreters, including a sign-language interpreter.
This is a major step forward in inclusivity and supporting improved patient experience ensuring that all patients can clearly communicate with their healthcare providers. This initiative has also been used to support improvements in our marketing efforts; sign language is now being included in videos with the ambition we expand the number of videos with sign language in 2025.
Several facility projects were also implemented that have had a profound impact on patients. This includes the new Dental treatment room providing an accessible room for the ease, comfort and convenience for patients with disabilities and special needs.
Moving forward and in harmony with Saudi Vision 2030, JHAH continues its commitment to enable everyone, including persons with disabilities, to be integrated, independent and to feel respected. Our mission is to make our organization fully accessible and inclusive, where education, job opportunities, and staff retention are conducted without discrimination.
I am confident that our efforts will make JHAH the standard that other healthcare providers strive to achieve in being a fully inclusive person-centered environment of care, where care is delivered with compassion, empathy, commitment and consistency.
