Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare joins the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action and the Saudi Ministry of Health in supporting World Breastfeeding Week by running a weeklong campaign to raise awareness about the role of the family and employers in supporting and promoting breastfeeding mothers.
The benefits of breastfeeding are numerous for both mothers and babes and include strengthening a baby’s immune system and protecting infants from asthma, types 1 and 2 diabetes and many other diseases in later life. The benefits are not limited to health; breastfeeding also has social, psychological and economic benefits for families and ultimately the communities in which they live.
The JHAH Women and Children Department supports breastfeeding by providing breastfeeding education in its Antenatal Clinic and offering Pregnancy Wellness Classes every Monday in English and Arabic. Everyone at Aramco is encouraged to support pregnant and breastfeeding moms to register in the Pregnancy Wellness Program,
We also support postpartum mothers in our Breastfeeding Clinic through in person and telephone visits as well as through text messages in MyChart.
We encourage everyone to share information with family members to help more mothers begin breastfeeding and to continue as long as possible.
